I use my 64 1/2 as a DD and love it. I often make drives to San Francisco and back about once a month (RT 300 miles). After I got rid of my points, I haven't run into any problems, very reliable. I put on average about 1000 miles a month. I do need to fix my heater, but other than that my classic is very comfortable and I enjoy driving, not being driven.

My 66, when finished, will replace my damn Xterra as a daily driver, and it might get better gas mileage to boot. I bought this car just for this purpose. Some of the plans to make it a reliable daily driver are a new Ford 302 340 HP crate motor and T5 tranny.Completely new suspension (I’m thinking Total Control Products) with four wheel discs. Some creature comforts includeAC (I live in the South, it’s a must), TCI sport seats, and power windows.

I plan on driving mine as much as possible. But not in bad weather. Bad weather to me is snow and ice, hail storms. Rain, yes I will probably drive it in the rain.

Mine is my driver as well. If you replace some of the older tech with more modern reliable stuff like good brakes, electronic ignition etc, then it should easily be as reliable as a new car, if not more so. There's way less stuff to go wrong with a car that has less than 10% of the electrical circuits as the newer cars, and less moving parts as well. It's just getting it to that point int he first place that counts.

My advice is this: Don't use it as a daily driver, IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

Why put more miles and ware on a car that has already been around a long time? You probably want to hold on to it for a long time. Driving it everyday will make it harder and more expensive to do.

Provided you have the means to drive another vehicle, keep this one in great shape and drive it once a week.

Default 1999 35th Anniversary

Just needing a few opinions please....I have a 99 silver anniverary Mustang GT that my dad bought me for graduation. I'm needing another vehicle as I havein the last yearparked this one at 107,000 miles and have been driving something else to work....but was told I should keep it bc it would be a collector car? I love my car, but don't know if it would be worth keeping for a few more years?

Mine is a daily driver, and is at least a reliable as my newer cars. As long as you take care of it and fix any problems as they come there is no reason no to use it as a daily driver. I would much rather drive a nice classic than any new car out there.
