Default back to the lift

well we are going back to the lift this weekend ,, my sons 65 still isn't right we are getting chatter on take off and it has a noise just sitting there ( i think i need to adjust the clutch more ) and the speedo is off 10 mph ( need to check the gear ) ,, we are going to change the pressure plate ( a new one already ) and change the clutch ( a new one too ) to make sure that they aren't the problem ,,, anything else to check ??????? one of you guys said something about input shaft being too short ,, how can we check that ??

Sounds like the clutch is not adjusted properly!Are you saying it has a new pressure plate and clutch disc in it now or that you are going to replace them?[8D]

(1) Bad pilot bushing/bearing?

(2) Bad transmission input shaft bearing?

(3) Contaminated clutch disc surfaces?

(4) Pressure plate not torqued down evenly (and has warped)?


I had a car where item #2 was a problem that recurred at about every 50,000 miles. I suspect that the root cause was either a bellhousing or tranny case that wasn't drilled quite right, and the tranny input shaft wasn't quite concentric with the crankshaft. Have you replaced the bell? Some aftermarket bells and scattershields aren't all that accurately made.

yeah right now everything is new i am going to replace everything also again the pilot bearing is new also now the input shaft might be bad how can i tell????? and a good friend told me that when he changes a tranny he does the bell housing separate ,, he does the bell housing andthen the tranny is that the way to do it ??? i was doing them together ,,,,
