headliner
well i waws wounderin if there is an easier way to install headliner... can i spray it to a thin sturdy foam then spray that to the roof and then install pinch lace or is there a way to make it like themodern cars with foam headliners?
I doubt it, I never heard of anyone doing that. There is only one way, and it isn't much fun. You can put the sound deadening on the roof, but the headliner has to be independent of that. Unless there is something I don't know! Your front and back glass is out, right?
Did you look at the headliner thread at the bottom of this page. I used short pieces of windlace to hold mine induring installation. Searchat the top might turn up someone with pics! Key is don't get in a hurry
Good luck
Good luck
Its not that hard just a little time consuming, take out front and rear glass, remove old headliner making sure to get it all clean.Make sure you mark where each bow goes in place, insert bows thru headliner, mark center of front and rear, glue front and rear in place working your way out from the center towards the sides pulling it nice and tight to get out the wrinkles. Then go to one side and start by using short pieces of the old windlace to keep it in place then just proceed to glue it in place pulling it nice and snug as you proceed.Take your time and you should have no problems although sometimes you have to cut a little of the bow slots to stretch the headliner correctly from side to side. After its all done put on the new windlace and you should be good to go!! Good Luck with it!![sm=gears.gif]
I replaced my headliner without removing the glass. I have a fastback, so the back glass would not have to be removed because the headliner can be secured under the metal trim in front of it. I sprayed the adhesive under the windshield gasket and forced the headliner into it. It did not look perfect, but it has held for many years. My only regret is that the job took me more time that I thought it would. I was doing the job in the parking lot outside of my dorm and I missed getting in to see Ronald Reagan speak in Reynolds Coliseum by 5 minutes.
i actually saw them make a modern headliner on pimp my ride on mtv once. they had a 1st gen cougar 67-68 they mounted the car on a rotisserie and poured a mold in the roof while the car was upside down then covered the mold with cloth little extreme[8D] ended up with tvs etc also
I put in a headliner when I owned a coupe about 10 years ago. The glass was in. I used a putty knife to carefully push the headliner under the weatherstrip. It worked like a charm and looked great.
