Default Before and After Pics

I love seeing pictures like this on the Forum, so I thought I'd post my first restoration on the 65 coupe. Yes, it is a small restoration, but it was fun. The view is the inside of the front valance and the right front turn signal. Valance is the original, sanded to bare metal, primed and painted in body color (as it was when I got it). Turn signal is New Old Stock. Cover is repro. Had just a little pitting on the valanceright around the turn signal openings but was able to deal with it.

Thanks. Its actually not attached yet. Two boltsbuilt intothe turn signal extend through the cover. You can see them in the picture. Just takes a couple of nuts to hold it. There also is a gasket which goes between the cover and valance. I did not put that in place for the photo.

What have you been using for sanding?
I am sanding my engine bay...using a compressor/gun with sanding disc ...It is a lot of work.
Do you use any chemical stripper.
Thanks Scott

I thought about chemical stripper but the valance had crud and rust which needed sanding. Plus, in Illinois chemical stripper is best used in warmer weather outside. I did this in my basement. On this part I ended up using an electric drill with a medium grit sanding disk. Too coarse and it would score the metal. I think I had 100 grit on it. The round shape and flexibility was perfect for this piece since it is mostly just gentle curves. The only problem was if I hit a sharp edge it wouldrip the sanding disk. Mine are not adhesive. They are mounted to the drill with a screw in the center. I did try some of the non-wire wheels on the drill but they did nothing.
