What is next? Is Ford going to trademark 5.0, 302, 427, 460......... Really make me wonder. How will we describe our cars in forums like this. I have a 1968 Pustang that has a blown 5.oh and a.75 foot thingy that holds the rear tires. (can you still say tires or will Firestone come after you?)

This is a funny conversation because the truth is ford is not the only company/organization to be doing this... I am by no means defending Ford or any other egomanical companies that do this. The NFL has almost any association with the super bowl trademarked.... For instance if selling, advertising, or tying a product in with the super bowl you are in violation of the nfl copyrights. It is so tight that you can't mention the teams playing, about all you can say are the cities or THE BIG GAME... Hopefully others don't follow suit with this garbage!

Just something a little interesting. I was watching TV last night and theywas a commercial showing a boat load of old farts (like me) pulling up to a restroom to take awiz in a 67 Mustang Vert (a pee-less pill). The front running horse in the grill was missing. Seems the fear is widespread.

I am not happy with what Ford is doing, but it is not completely their fault. The last time they restructured they barrowed a bunch of money and the collateral for there loans included their trademarks and logos, so it was this loan that required them to more aggressively protect their trademarks and why they have been difficult in the last couple of years.

I went through this in my other hobby.A company put a C&D on anyone even using pictures of the product (sold years ago and no longer available)to sell other related items, including calendars. The problem was in the licensing of the brand names etc. In fact, I got a C&D letter telling me to remove a picture on a web site because the picture could be used to manufacture a reproduction part (sticker artwork)
