Default Price for body work?

i need a rough estimate to have my body work done, and get my car primed. there is really only 1 small rust hole at the bottom of the door. hood and trunk lid are badly bond'od, and both of the rear qurter panels need to be replaced.
so about how much am i looking at for that, and new weather stripping with primer.
i live in michigan....

2500$ but i wouldnt leave it in bare primer id it least toss of gallon of single stage urethane on it to seal it up nice so it doesnt rust back throug the primer

depends. if you have maaco do it (not sure if they have those in MI) then its gonna be fairly cheap. if you have a custom paint shop do it, you will have to fork over a lot of cash.

If you have bad bondo it will have to be all taken off. I have found mostly that anything that has thick bondo is covering alot of bodywork. Quarter panel replacement isn't cheap and you need to figure in the cost of any sheetmetal that will be replaced. Most of the shops that work on late model cars around here won't take the time to mess with an older car. I would agree with the 2500.00 figure to get the car in a 2K primer. Whatever you decide, don't get shoddy work done to save a few bucks. If the body work isn't good it will magnify with paint on it. Good Luck

Find a better hood and deck lid. You can buy some pretty good aftermarket sheetmetal these days, might be cheaper than fixing them. How bad are the rear quarters, can they be fixed. That will be pricey to replace unless you can do it yourself. If you can get to the inside of the door, remove the rust, fiberglass will patch that and a little body filler on the outside. Body filler is a lot better than it used to be, so no shame in having some on you car. No sense priming it unless you are going to paint it too! The more you put on it, the more chance for adhesion problems with what you put on top.

we have 1 maaco close to me but i have been told the one around here doesn't do good work. the quarter panels aren't great but they could be worse, there is just 1 strip of rust on one and a baseball sized ding on the other, on the bottom of one it looks like they put body filler in it but didnt do it right because it is cracked.
i want to get all the body work done and get it primerd, then hopefully within 3 months of that have it painted.

If you are only talking a 3 month delay, wait and have it all done at once.

Yeah, I knew one quarter panel on my car had already been replaced years ago.
I didn't know the other side had 3/4 of an inch of bondo covering sheet metal that looked like the surface of the moon!

So there was another grand I hadn't planned on spending having that quarter replaced.

a grand for the quarter panel!? dang i didn't realize it was that expensive.
anyway i said i hope to have it pantied 3 months after....it will probly get delayed.
i just want to get SOMETHING on it this spring because i dont want to to rust worse (its missing A LOT of paint)
also do they charge more for lots of layers of old paint, as my car has 2 different colors under the current color.
