Default CONVERTING 96 TO 66 QUESTIONS

I need some advice
I have an opportunity to purchase a 66 project car but it does not have any of the mechanicals(engine, trans, etc.) or the interior.
I also own a 96 cobra.. What I was considering, is converting the cobra into the 66(body of the 66 all the rest 96)... I have always wanted a resto mod.. Just wondering if this is a less expensive approach or will it be a huge undertaking. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am no mustang expert, I'm not sure how the two cars would match up.
Thanks in advance.

Installing a mod motor in a 66 is a larger task than using 95 backward. You have to remove the shock towers to make room for the motor. If you're planning on changing to a different front suspension/steering, then it wouldn't be much harder than swapping in a 5.0 efi.

the 96 cobra has a 4.6L with the overhead cams on that make it very hard to go into a sixty six.

It would be a awesome motor. I looked at that for my FB, there was going to be an issue with the trans on the 4.6 fitting in the tunnel without modification. I didn't want to cut the car up that much. It's been done, but I think they had unlimited funds.

that's exactly what I would like to do. Not sure my wallet can handle the expense since I don't have the know how to do it my self.
I would have to find someone to do it for me, that seems like a long shot considering the degree of difficulty.
thanks for the info
