35 Years+ Insepection?
After replacing the roof on my car and putting in a new Front Windshield i was sorta frustrated because i had to get my car insepected again, but one of my friends told me that for any 35+ year old car theres a new law out that you don't need to get it insepected. I live in NC so this lay may only apply here---if this law even exists. But i was wondering if anyone else has heard about this or if anyone would know where i could find out the proper "legal" answer...because i dont feel like tossing $40 to get an inspection
Here, anything over 25 years is "antique" and you can get an antique auto plate, which requires no inspection. You're supposed to keep the car "in stock form" or whatever, but nobody does and theyre pretty lenient.
In PA. 100% fact
cars made befor 1973 nead no smog test , but nead the safty test we get two stickers on the windshild but pre 1973 olny get one . Most cops dont eaven know this and pull me over alot for olny having one sticker . this happens at least once a month

Does Jersey have that???
I know that you can't get the antique plates if your under 25, in Jersey atleast. I'm 19 so I still have to take mine through inspection too. Also can't get the classic insurance either. It might be easier in NC tho.

Call your state Motor Vehicle Department to find out. In most states, a car has to go through a "Safety Inspection" if it's so many yesrs old. In my state(Ct.) if the car is over 20 years old, it MUST go through such an inspection in order to get it registered. Any car 4-20 years old must go through an "Emissions"Test every 2 years. The 2 tests are different, so maybe this is what your state has and your friend is talking about the "Emissions" or "NOX" test.
