Default alternator ?

Hey guys,
Im looking into the one wire alternator setup for my 66.
Will this shiny chrome summit pice work its a one wire.
As far as I can tell looking about all you need is some sort of in line breaker and go straight to the solenoid?

289 and 66 are not listed for that part. my guess would be now.
wouldn't even know if the dimensions are right.
Check with summit or manufacturer. they should be able to tell you

I just installed a 1-wire on my 66 this weekend. It works fine.
I got it on EBay for about $175 including shipping.
It's new, 170 Amps, 1 year warranty, included the wire & 200A fuse. It fit perfectly and looks good.

Here's a link if you are interested, maybe he has more listed now.

I found quite a few on EBay.
from about $90 to $200.
Be careful, because some are rebuilt and/or converted to 1-wire.
I wanted a brand new one & I got this one since it had the wire & fuse with it already.

It has one big wire from alternator to solenoid and one small wire that is hot when in run position (I hooked it to the wire I had previously run for my electric choke).

Thanks Art!
It seemed easy to do just finding the right parts.
175 is a lot of volts, Guess by the time my big fuel pump and twin electric fans + msd ignition is all going I could probably use the juice.

175amp is pretty good, you'd be hard pressed to use that up on an older car without all the mess of electrical demand the newer cars have. Voltage is internally regulated on the 1 wires so you just d/c the factory voltage regulator and run the charge wire to the + batt terminal and you're good. And the higher the amperage of the alt and the less amperes you pull, the longer the alternator lasts.

That's the one I have, except it's the black PM instead of chrome.

Did you just switch the pulley out or get one with the v-grove?
