That's all fine and dandy ifhe already has the 289 crank and rods. However, if he already has a 5.0L that can be rebuilt or can get a complete one cheaply, why not stick to it since he is on a budget? To me, budget = K.I.S.S. There are many ways toskin this cat, but if a guy comes on here and clearly states that the funds aren't there ...

I dont have a 302. I have A 2.3 and its not running.(the mustang is my second vehicle)
I am thinking of making this contraption in order to drift a little yet have something to play with on the weekends. I have not put a deadline on this project nor do I plan to. But I have heard that it is possible to get higher rpms with this motor than the 302. Is this possible?

yes the 289's will rev higher than as 302.

you DONT want a 1100.00 motor. those equal crap parts. btw, you can pick up 289 cores from the classifieds here, ebay, or craigslist for pretty damn cheap (since all these guys swap them for 5.0's and wanna dump their older, better motors)
