429 SCJ

RE: 429 SCJ
Your talking about special models, the cyclone spoiler and the Torino GT (or whatever it was called).
As for Mustangs, I dont think that from 71-73 they even had a big block(not positive but pretty sure). I think the Mach's had clevlands in em.
Im stickin to my guns though, (ill have to find my concours resto book), but I believe the only difference between the CJ and the SCJ was the 4bolt mains and thats it.
ANd as far as I have seen, mach 1's came with 428's (FE engines). The 429/460 engine family was in the boss only. But the 60's were a sketchy time, and if you knew the right people you could have whatever engine/trans combo you wanted. Kinda like the Yanko Camaro.

RE: 429 SCJ
I know for certain that the PI block was a 2 bolt main block. The PIhad better heads, cam, bigger carb, upgraded cooling system, I think it even had a larger capacity oil pan and an oil cooler than your "regular" run of the mill 429.

RE: 429 SCJ
He is asking $25,000 for the car. Here is some info on the car.
Themotorcame out of an actual Mach 1 so it is the correct engine for the car. As for the HP it has never been on the dyno, but the engine builder said he guessed in the neighborhood of about 430HP and 450TQ. The motor actually only has about 2,500 miles. It and the transmission where both rebuilt when we redid the car. The car was actually at the track once, but I didn't run it. It got a ton of looks and the announcer actually announced us when we came in. The car has been babied since we got it and it has been nothing, but a blast. I'm wanting a lightning to drive back and forth to school. I hate putting miles on my 1999 Procharged GT. What kind of trade did you have in mind, between the two vehicles? Oh I'll take the pictures some time on Friday, so I'll get those to you as soon as possible.

RE: 429 SCJ
For that kind of money the car needs to be in excellent condition. The fact that it has a 429 CJ may help the value if it was born as a 302. A SCJ uses a Holley carb (2 different ones)and the CJ's use a Rochester spreadbore (4 different ones). I am interested in seeing some photos. The link I listed in my above posthas a wealth of info based on actual production vehicles (not just a "I guess" or "I think"). It has the part and casting numbers listed as well as many photos. Ram air will definitly increase the value. Forthose that would like to identify a SCJ quickly, simply look at the single fuel line from the tank. The CJ's will have two.
CLICK THE LINK! others should have done so first.
