I just saw the kit and it does use I beam rods, I will try to ask if they can exchange them for H rods, where did you buy the stroker kit from?

I talked to jegs, and they have the package in their system, but do not have any prices for it yet. I will probably call edelbrock tommorrow and see what is the deal with the package and the price.

I am sure that they will substitutethe rods if you want, for some extra $$, I would not do this only to not clearance the block though! I know it sounds daunting, but it really is easy to clearance the block!

Don't forget to get your stroker kit balanced!

I bought our kit from The Mustang Depot, the Eagle kit you are getting is probably of a better quality though... The TMD kit we got was all forged and H-beam rods for about $1,200 if memory serves me... +$200 for balance...

Ok, what do you mean balance the stroker kit, you cannot just install the kit as it is? What do they actually do to balance it or can one do this without machines?

Anytime a performance engine is built aside from stock specifications the rotating assembly should be balanced, even more so with stroker kits. This is due to the different weights of aftermarket parts when compared with stock parts. Additionally, stroker kits are meant to be balanced so they will likely have "extra meat" in places to accommodate this end.

Some kits are sold "balanced" others are sold "unbalanced". If the kit say neither balanced or unbalanced you can assume unbalanced. The cost for balancing is about $200.00 + or-.

It does take a special machine. And thecrank is"dynamically balanced" (spun) using "bob-weights" to simulate rods and pistons, the weights of which are taken into account.

Take your balancer, crank, rods, pistons, pins, flywheel etc to a shop that does engine balancing. They weight everything, put the crank in a machine with weights on it and spin it, then add/remove weight to balance the assembly. If you don't you're asking for serious trouble.

Also, double check the block before you get a roller conversion cam. It may be a roller block that someoen put a flat tappet cam in. Factory roller cam setups are cheaper than conversion, so there's no sense in getting a more expensive setup that's not neccessary.
