Advice needed
I have recently been offered a chance to purchase a 1967 mustang GT fastback, 289, auto from a friend of my mom's. We all enjoy the classic cars, they have a beautiful Bel-Air and a rare Fiero with only like 2K miles on it. Anyways, like I said, 289 auto, black on black, stock everything. EXCELLENT condition, I couldn't see a scratch on it, and the interior was probably a 9 out of 10 with the only problem being a scuff on the steering wheel. Anyways, the guy is asking 20K, and I could probably get a couple grand knocked off. So should I persue this, or keep looking? Personally, I think it's a great deal, but I don't know too much about classics, that's why I asked

I think that a V8 FB that is in excelent condition would get more, so 20K for one is not out of line. I would consult with the autotrader bible and see what people are asking....

If it is a genuine GT it doesn't have the right drive line in it. A real GT will have a 390.
I wouldn't even entertain a 20K offer for my fastback, so if it is not some bondo Queen then yeah, the price sounds good.

not true if its a GTA, which is what is sounds like:
1967 was the only year for the GTA, which was a Mustang GT with an automatic transmission. They were available in coupe, fastback, or convertible and with either the 289 or 390 engine.

Really? The 289 was available in the GT? I never knew that!! whoa. I have never seen a GT 289. The only GTAs I have seen were 390 / C6 combos.
Anybody else seen one?
