Default Rearend Swap

I am new to the site and was hoping I could get some help. I was planning to swap the 9" out of my 68' fastback and replace it with a 93' trac-loc with discs. Are the widths close enough or is it going to require machine work? The 9" I have would require a new third member and is still a drum, figure the 8.8" would be a bit cheaper.

i know we get complete 3rd members ready to install with a mini-spool for stock cars for about the price of the ring and pinion. 460 something dollars seems to ring a bell. you can get disk brake conversions for about 400 bucks or less...might as well just save up a few bucks and spend a saturday afternoon making the 9" a centerpiece of your car. 2 hours changing gears and 3 hours converting brakes is better than trying to get the 8.8 to fit, and work in your car, then still you only have a 8.8"

my opinion.

Assuming you have a 9" in your car and not an 8", I'd keep the 9" in it. 8.8's are great, but there's no reason to remove a 9" from a car, IMO. Like Bradley said, it's a lot easier to just swap out the center in the 9".

It is a 9" but it is hurting, thought I would save a few bucks by weldingsome spring perches on the 8.8" which I already have(it is actually at my bro's house).
