Default which backspace to choose ?

Hi all,
am in process upgrading to 5 lug. getting rear axle from quickperformanceracing if anyone knows them.
There will be 11" disc brakes coming with the axle.
for the front i decided for the discbrakeswap kit.

Now i'm thinking about what wheels to get (unfortunately can't keep the old 4lugs, which will make this expensive).

So that's what I think about getting:

cragar quick trick I, 15x7" 5x4.5" bolt circle should be ok as far as I know.
But there are 2 different ones: 3.75" backspace and 4.5" backspace.
which ones should I get ?

Anyone any idea ?

thanks,

Kalli

i think you'll need the 4.5 to clear your disc brake set-up.... if memory serves me correct......

or was that the fender.... i'm old and the memory..... what was i talking about?

probably going for 225/60R15 BF goodrich radial T/As in rear and probably 205/60R15 in front (no powersteering)
if that helps anything ....

Kalli that is the same set-up i am using on our 65..... the only difference is i used cragar ss wheels...they only come with 4.25 back space and i would have loved to have that xtra .25 inch to clear the wheelwell on drivers side..... without power steering will it be a little hard steering with that size tire on front? i was thinking about our 69 camero and that size tire being a tough one for the wife to drive......just curious

thatnks for info :-) do you have pictures of the current setup ? would love to see that. it'll be awkward steering alright, so I'm not sure about 195 or 205 yet. currently driving 195 in the front

15x7 with 4.5 backspace will run into hard interference with the upper a arm. 4.25 is generally the max backspace you can run with a 7 inch wheel

yes. received them alright :-) thanks !!!
dodgestang: so you're saying I should go for the 3.75" backspace ? I really have no idea. I just want them to fit.

actually I found dodgestangs charts:
http://www.dodgestang.com/Tire%20Fit...ide%2065-6.pdf

there are a few references which say 15x7, 3.75" all bone stock should fit

Nice one. that's another decision made ... slowly but surely getting it together

I know this bs deal can be frustrating not knowing if the wheels will fit. I am going through the same process, ordered wheels, but I won't know for sure until I bolt them on. You just need to do as much homework as you can with what you have on your car. My setupis somewhat custom, so I had to measure the bs of the car. That way I knew what would fit and what wouldn't. Good luck.
