Ignition Switch Removal
Hey everyone,
I am trying to remove the ignition switch on my 66 and I am having issues with a worn out key. I can not get the switch into the accessory position to depress the log pin.
What have you guys done in the past in this situation?
Thanks in advance.

I think i had a similar problem and honestly I just fiddled with it and it eventually worked. not sure if that is the best approach tho. haha.
You may just want to have a new key made at an ACE hardware or something.

This may sound sarcastic, but im serious.
Learn to pick locks. Just look up on google the theory of lock picking and once you understand how the locks work, you should be able to pick the lock relatively easily, but the most simple form of it is to use your worn key.
The first thing I would try is to insert your key, and genty apply pressure as if you were turning it to ACC.
While keeping that pressure on the lock, slowly pull the key most of the way out, and back in a few times. This hopefully will be enough to catch the tumblers in place and turn to the ACC position. This is the basic theory of lock picking.
If it doesnt work, you can actually make some picks up from the patterns you can find on the web. I have used hacksaw blades to do this...........All for legal reasons of coarse!
Good luck.
