Default Axel Removal

I was wondering if anyone new a website that showed how to remove an Axel from a ford 9". I bought the shop manual for my '69 but it dosent work on my computer for some reason the CD worked fine at work but not a home. I am buyinga new pumpkin and i just wantto make sure i get the correct spline.

Take the drums off. There are 4 bolts on the backing plate that need removed and they are in a square formation, take them out. Then PULL and they should popout.

If you go to the curriw website, under crate rearends, they show how do remove and replace a rear end. It isn't a Ford Mustang but the idea is the same. It's on a chevelle.

What about fluid will any fluid come out of the differental if i pull one of the axle's out?

should be no diff oil coming out with the axlesunless the thing was somehow overfilled (or you have it sitting on a real bad angle)

Instead of the slide hammer, do what was suggested to me and worked.

Put one of the drums on backward with 3 or so lug nuts, hit the back side with a sledge hammer. Worked like a champ. Thanks to whoever it was that suggested it to me.

Ive also seen someone on here hook a chain to one of the studs to get leverage...
