Default 302 to 351???

i currently have a '68 mustang with 302 and i want to go with a somthing based on a 351w. i am thinking a 393, 408, 420, 427, ect. so my question is which one and why??? also in addition to the rear end stuff i know i have to do (9" instead of 8"), would i need to do any front suspention stuff, and if you could give links??? by the way it is a v8 car if that helps.

its really a preference question as far as which stroker to get. i am not 100 percent sure as to the differences other than more cubic inches and the more you stroke it u should get more torque. you dont need a 9in, you can build a 8in to handle the power (i beleive they have held up like 450hp) as long as you build it right. and you dont need to do suspension mods because its prettymuch just a taller deck version of the 302. you should atleast put front disks on so you can stop that much power

well with a 40+ yr old car, redoing the suspension is always good but if you already have a v8 car its not needed.i would reccomend doing the shocks though

im sure the rest of the guys here will agree that the stroker motors today are puttin out serious hp, a 427 can see 500 hp easily, in a 68 mustang your gonna need some serious chassis reinforcement, i had a sweet little 306 in my 68 with 4:11s and a 5 speed and within 6 months all my body gaps went to hell, all i had done were frame connectors, an 8 point cage solved that problem, all that from a little 306, imagine a 500 horse stroker!
