explorer rear end
i know this topic has been on here a 1000 times. but im just getting around to this idea.. so what is required to do a eploxer rear end swap.. what year explorer do i need and what di i need to to do to make it work?
don't go with the explorer if you can, nothing wrong with drums in the rear. i put a 89 SSP Mustang rear in mine with little effort. just repositioning the shock towers and getting a new driveshaft yoke and that was that.
if people are putting explorer rear ends in mustangs,...............it's gotta be the ONLY thing on an explorer that is worth a ****. i've got one (explorer), and it's the absolute worst miserable piece of **** i've ever owned. when i drive it onto car lots, and the salesmen come rushing asking if it is for sale or trade, i tell them an afirmative "HELL NO,......................", they always get a puzzled look on their faces, and i tell them that "you KNOW this is a prototype,..........slipped out of the factory somehow, and I bought it,.........it's worth millions".......
and drive off. every time, in my mirror, i can see them looking at each other with weird looks on their faces. i have replaced the tranny, motor, and the most brake jobs of any vehicle i have ever owned..............plus all the little crap on the inside falling apart, etc.
but, ....................... i cant say i i've had to replace the rear end though,...............ford must have slipped on THAT one..........
