The car will be a Dark Moss Green (Black vinyl roof) and the engine bay will either be matching or a Satin Black. I don't want the engine itself to be black, blue, orange, red or yellow.. the common colors. I'm looking for a deep bright Purple (Passion Purple perhaps) or another color. Looking to have it 'pop' from the darker moss green/black bay. [ol][*]Any other suggestions for color?[*]Any suggestions as to what type of paint or manufacture for custom engine paint?[*]Anyone have any photos of a purple engine?[/ol]Thanks for any comments or suggestions
Edit: This would be a sweet looking purple I think...

you can use regular synthetic or acrylic enamel like you would use on the car, I have used it for my eng paints for years with no problems.

Catalyzed? Does this mean its just a standard enamel automotive paint thats been mixed with some type of hardener? Googled it however I haven't found exactly what or how this is done. Sounds like a great idea and should allow me to find just that perfect color I'm looking for.
Yea catalyst is just "more correct" terminology for "hardener".
So yea,a hardened enamel, synthetic or acrylic, (I prefer acrylic), or a urethane paint.
I have been using "car paint" on engines for better than 20 years now... damn, I am getting old...

OK so I can go to any of the local paint shops and order this in rattle cans or do I need to order the paint and hardener, mix it myself and then spray? As I understand it most regular rattle cans have a hardener added already which is why I'm asking all the questions.. Obviously I'm not looking for regular paint.
Thanks for explaining this to me.

At our paint store here in town we can have any color paint mixed and put into a spray can for a nominal fee...
I have had several cans made up for me. The thing with catalyzed paint is that once the hardener is put in, you only have a couple of hours to get it sprayed, wont work with spray cans!
They do sell a aerosol powered spray device that catalyzed paint can be put into and sprayed though. (looks like a small glass jar with an aerosol can on top)

Cool and thanks. I'll stop in a couple of the local paint shops here and ask a bit more on this next week. Now I just need to find the color I really want and a color code. Hopefully I can find a paint shop who can make a few samples to help me find that color.
