Default Tranny experts..

Have an aod and trying to get the tranny to shift at WOT around 5,500 rpms. right now at low rpms the car doesnt shift until about 3400(too late), and at WOT it shifts at 4,300(too early). I can back it back down so it shifts nicely at low rpms but then it will shift at about 3,200 at wot.

Common issue with AOD without a shift kit and/or valve body change they won't hold the RPM very high. Tune it to shift where you want it for everyday driving and then shifting it manually for spirited occasions is the best course of action IMHO

it makes no sense to me that a tranny would only have about 1,500 rpm travel difference between wot and low throttle

Well there is also a chance that you do not have the TV cable hooked to the correct location on your carb causing it to move in the incorrect arc of motion. I use this place as a resource for AOD setup information: http://www.clickclickracing.com/forums/index.php user name 'Silverfox' can offer you more indepth guidance than I can if you do not get enough info here.

also if that tv is misadjusted it will burn up the tranny, since it also controls line pressure
