Granada swap is just that....a kit that allows you to bolt granada disc brakes on to the car, which uses a single piston caliper IIRC.

Wilwood has thier own kit which uses the stock v8 mustang spindle which is what you would need to buy.
The late model cobra conversions also use the stock spindle IIRC

If you are looking at a Wilwood kit that is for a granada then it would be different.

We have bought from him quite a few times. Very cool dude. I'd love to help the guy make a sale, but if you put in the motor your talkinga bout, you may want to think bigger.

The granada disc brake upgrade continues to be one of the more popular upgrades to the classic mustang because of its relatively cost effective way of drastically imrpoving the performance of the braking system on the classic mustang. Prices on this swap have started creeping up becuase of the obvious down turn in the amount of granadas either merely available at a junk yard or not previously pillaged. For a street car (or even a drag race car) they are more than adequate IMHO.

I would quantify them as a safety upgrade, not a performance upgrade. While they will offer better performance than the front drums you have now the biggest bang with this specific swap is for the safety aspects not the "hey wow I just slowed the car down from 134 MPH to 25 before I flew off that exit ramp" kind of thing.

yeah, thats why i was wondering if i could put bigger calipers in it

so, now im looking at the ssbc 4 piston kit in use with the stock spindles but its non power brakes, how much do you think i need power brakes? the kit for power brakes is like 400 bucks more

so i guess it would be easiest of i just asked- "what would the best disc brake option be for a 450hp car that does some track days?"

once again, sorry for the newb questions...

Assuming this a 1966 6 banger that is being converted you will need to source new v8 spindles for any of the disc brake kits that say they bolt onto the 65/6 mustang using the stock spindle.

I run manual SSBC Kelsey Hayes (stock mustang gt knock offs) on the front and the 87 t-bird discs in the back with an SVO master cylinder and the car stops just fine. If you are talking about a NA big cam motor power brakes really aren't a strong option for you because:

1. Larger cams tend to have low vacuum so a brake booster might not functional very effectively
2. Running a vacuum canister is always an option but
3. 65/6 are the tightest of the mustang engine compartments with a 289 and a power booster add to that a 351w and it will be very tight.

They are what they are. They are 70s brake technology. If you're wanting bigger rotors and dual or quad piston, or even 6 piston brakes, then there are more expensive aftermarket selections.

I have Granada brakes and they are just fine for street cars as Nick said.
