Default Leaf Springs and Rubbers.. lol

Is there supposed to be anything between the spring saddle and the leaf? I have what may be a lowering block and two pieces of rubber between the shock plate and the spring. I need to know if i should use a piece of rubber between the plate and spring or if I dont need it.. In the partsmagazine there is knothing,, Anyone??

Also, I ordered 4 new U bolts, but the guy only charged me for and shipped one.. So has anyone reused their old U bolts? Im just going to buy new ones anyway, so i dont know why im even asking..[/align]

no rubber there on any of my cars
If your u-bolts are still in good condition (not bent and threads not stripped)you could reuse them until the replacements turn up...what else are you doing?

How thick is the rubber?
On Cougars there was about 1/2" thick rubber around the leaf to reduce road noise.
Mabey the grande had the same? 65's did not.

Mine doesnt have a rubber pad. And if it did, it would have to be decently thin or the little "peg" wouldnt be long enough to seat in the saddles...

I concur with 65Coupster. I had a '70 Cougar XR-7 Convertible (I sure wish I still had that car). I remember it having the rubber pads. I also remember someone telling me the Cougar had them but the Mustang didn't. Perhaps certain models of the Mustang did come with that rubber pad.

They are about a half inch thick.. and being that the Grande' was the luxury model, im guessing they came with it.. I will keep them on, or at least one of them being that there are two..
