Exhaust on 66 A code
that is what I am trying to find out...
It is clearly an A code with all the original power train. The undercarriage is original but has single exhaust. That is my question, is it standard with an A code to have a single exhaust or was dual exhaust standard or just an option?

Pop the back seat out and look for the small rectangular reinforcing plates for the hangers used by the dual exhaust. If they are there the car came from the factory with duals. It's the rectangular part with the two round stud heads not the whole area.

I will pull the seat and check. I talked today with the previous owner who bought the car in 1984 and sold it to me this year. He said that he never did anything to the car and that the exhaust on it was there when he bought it 24 years ago. I will pull the seat and check for the hanger. I have got to ask...is it possible that the hanger plate you refer to was standard on all cars but that no actaul hanger was used on the cars w/o the dual option? If not, then your advise to look for this plate will be the sure fire way of determining if it came with duals...thanks. I will let you know.
