Default might be purchasing a 66fb a code

aight so ive been trying to hunt down a 65-66 or 69-70 fb for a long while now and ive finally found something im interested in but i need some guys with experience in buy/sell old mustang. The cars a 66 fb a code none gt. right now the car is completely stripped and the body work for the most part is done and nothing is assembled. It comes with like 6 fenders 4 doors 2 front windshields 1 rear a hole wack load of new odds and ends the old 289 short block + heads ( intake, carb and hood were stolen) basicly all the parts are there and any of the parts that are not ive got already. I think i could get the car for 6500-7000 and on top of that id need to rent a trailer and take it across the board to get it back home ( i live in canada). So to any of the guys that have gone thru a couple of these cars how does this sound?

have you got the skills to finish it off?

I most certainly dont so I'd buy a whole one...at least that way you can record what you pull apart for reference to putting it back together.

if its all stripped, its gunna be tough ascertaining what's there and whats missing. And the missing stuff is what will blow out the cost of resto.

it seems pricey to me.

Aussie is spot on. I have taken two fastbacks down to the bare unibody and back up again. In both cases, the cars were running and complete prior. The problem is the little missing peices as you go to put it back together. Most of the pieces are generic to the coups so they would be easy to track down, but some are fastback specific. For example, make sure you get or have the fastback side vent fins to include the sliding lever, interior rear seat (2 +2?), rear window trim, all the tin that mounts inside around the back seat, the smaller trunk lid, and of couse the fastback glass. Most everything else is the same as the coupe (I am sure I have forget a few things). If you end up having to go hunting for fastback specific items, price will go up fast. Everything from the cowl forward is common to all models. From the cowl to the door latch, fastback specific only on the body protion, from the door latch to the gas cap, lots of body and interior specific parts. You can look in one of the parts cataloges or the 66 manual for a schematic of the fastback and see if I am missing any fastback parts in my description.

Good luck...sounds like a good price if the parts are all there.

the guy has been slowly gathering all the parts and hes got multiple parts all the rear fastback interior and trim is in cluded hes got 2 sets of side vents new sliders for the vents the rear window. The guys been doing a good job with the car so far he builds and sells the cars as a side hobby but the state of WA is might be approving some tax on cars and he wants to move down to arazona so hes just selling it. Im right now trying to go over the price of how much it would cost me to build this one up or take a complete one tear it don and build it up again. DAM U BUDGETING!
