Default Door Poppers

Hello. My mustang is in the body shop right now getting the whole treatment done ... and I've decided to have the door handles shaved and the drip rails removed.

For the door handles, for the poor boy approach, I'm gonna reposition the interior door handle so I can open from the small window. But longer term I want to install door poppers. Anyone gone through this process and have any suggestions? The local radio install place will do it for $350 labor + kit. I think that is way steep ... but maybe I'm out of my mind. I thought I'd be able to position the hardware inside the door. Mount it in there and then run a hot wire. Am I nuts?

Thanks

Before having the local audio guys do it, I would be sure they know something about old cars. They are WAAAAAAY different then most of the hondas they prolly install those on...

On a side note, did you guys know that a 90s Dodge Viper had no door handles and you had to open a little window and open it with the inside handle? sounds pretty dumb for an 80 grand car...

I dont put door poppers, just the solenoid to unlatch the door. The doors are so tight the weatherstrip will pop the door and that better then the door flinging open on your on a slope. Also if you EVER plan to run the car at the strip, dont shave them. Mine were done by mistake(the thought i wanted it done) and now i cant pass tech unless i have a way to open the door from the outside incase of emergency.
