Default RE: timing cover question

I believe that there are two (2) different timing covers that can be used on the 289/302. The early timing cover (65 and earlier motors) uses an aluminum water pump with no backing plate on the water pump. The later timing cover (late 65 and later) use a cast iron water pump with a backing plate on the water pump.
