Default cant decide on a shifter...

im trying to tie the final loose ends of my T5 project, and I have a little more cash then I originally planned for. the T5 has 2.95 gearing (mabeye an aluminum flywheel aswell)and im mostly on little winding roads, so im thinking that I want a shifter thathas very fast resoponse. onlything is,I really dont have much hands on expience withnewer shifters and how they are differnt from each other. ive hearda lot of cars run hurst or pro 5s. anything else?any one want to share the pros and cons of what they have/prefer?

The stock T5 shifter is a good one with good response and a fairly short throw. Its biggest advantage is it easily fits through the stock shifter hole. Its down side is that it does not have positive stops. Sense the shift forks in the trans are aluminum they can be damaged if you bang through the gears, so if you shift hard a stock shifter is not a good idea. As far as the hurst, B&M, Stedia and pro, IMHO they all feel the same and are short through. T5s are kind of clunky when they shift so all the aftermarket ones have about the same feel. They are so much "the same" that I would go based on cost. After getting to feel lots of the $100+ units I purchased a no name unit from eBay for about $70.00 shipped and it works just as well as the more $$$ ones.

The one I bought

I've had two Hursts but went with a Steeda Tri-Axe in my current car (got it near new on Ebay for cheap). They all work great, though I'd give a slight edge to the Steeda.

Good luck!
