I have not put the car back together yet but I have two rolls of underlayment ready to go on top of the Fat Mat. I have heard you carpet will fit better if you do.

I used a insulator over the mat when I put my carpet in.... I also did not go all the way up the fire wall but i kept and used insulation. I did not do my doors or the roof either, I did not take out my headliner... or want to

I plan on laying down 2 coats of good Bedliner (yes there is some crappy stuff out there) over the entire interior to start with. This will help protect everything, kill a bit of sound and it stops a LOT of stuff from rattling around. This simply helps tighten and seal all the joints. Will also be spraying inside doors, all the panels, etc. Have a sheet of 14 gauge steel in the shop to weld in to close off the trunk which will also be coated.
Once this is done and dried I'll go with 100ft of the FatMat and cover the floors, hump, firewall, roof, sides, added trunk divider and back inside the trunk.
I'll finish off with the insulating/underlay mats and carpet.

Wife told me she wanted a quite car inside so hopefully this does it.

cool. so is it worth spending 100 bucks on? i will probably coat the car even more with the bedliner when i get it back and underneath to make it look nice. ill probably just get one or two layers of sound deadner in there and come back once the car is finished with body and paint and a another 50sq feet.

Like I said I used a 100 sq ft and sprayed bedliner inside, but I also pray bedliner underneath the car to cut down road noise even more. Not only did it cut the sound it looks good

I have not and I have heard of quite a few people doing it. If you strip it and make sure there is no water underneath you should not have a problem... The way the stuff sticks to the floor seems like an ultimate water guard to me, especially if you lay it with a heat gun.

Adrenoline, I did what your planning on doing with the steel trunk divider. I figured it would be smarter to just separate the cabin and trunk well, than doing the entire trunk. The trunk can be as noisy as it likes, as long as it doesn't come into the cabin.

1970Coupe, alittle hint for you, if you put any sound deadening vertical or upside-down, its best to use a heat gun on it to get ultimate adhesion. It should stick by just doing normal rolling, but for how long? I know my ceiling fatmat isnt going anywhere for a long time...
