Default Sound DEADNER

floors are almost done. theyre cut out, so now just got to get the new ones in and undercoating then im thinking about doing some sound deadner. so my question is "does the sound deadner really help that much or does it drastically quite the car down inside?" my car is extremely loud at 60.00 because of the exhaust tone so if i did it i would probably use alot in the trunk.

anyone got photos of what it looks like all done?

If you do a search for "sound deadener" under classic mustangs, it brings up 3 pages worth.

Here are some pics from doing the exact search.

Here's 2 posts I made awhile back. The first one shows how much 50sq.ft. will cover and the second is 100sq.ft. Alot of the places are double-layer'd, maybe triple someplaces.

I used Fatmat...here's 50ft for 80$

Also, alot of people on here have used eDead from www.elementaldesigns.com
It can be bought as cheap as 1$ a foot and I have a coupon code (eDeadBA) that you can redeem for 15% off. 50ft comes to $54.11

I used b-quiet and it works, it made an enormous difference. I have a nice super loud 351 W and the difference is amazing. One of my videos in my sig show the sound inside and outside the car.... I took alot of time on it and used 100sq ft... B-quiet was pretty cost efficient too... and that is always nice!

Here is a link to the stuff I bought:

I also used bedliner to seal the floor for extra deadening!!!

+1 for FatMat. I used it and the stuff flat works. You can't beat the price either.

so if i am getting it undercoated and with 100sq feet of deadning it should be a drastic change from the holes in the floors!

should i do the deadning after the car is painted? and does it need to go up the firewall? keep the original firewall insulator?

I did mine before paint and the more places you put it the quieter it will be. Now that I said that, I didn't do all of the firewall because it would be a pain in the A**.

I put two layers on my firewall, heck thats where a lot of engine noise comes from so cover it. And I don't think you have to reuse ur stock insulation, kind of overkill, but you can. I didn't. Put it on the roof, floors, trunk, firewall, wheel wells, everywhere haha. Also put it in the doors if you can, you have a '70 so the hole is big enough to get in there. Its easier with the windows out of course, but don't bother with it if you have to take them out, but if you roll it up you may be able to finagle around in there to get the deadener in there. My windows are out so It was easy, just dropped two sheets in from the top.
