OHBOY! OHBOY! OHBOY
So I guess I go here. I have a '66 coupe. I'll get a picture of her as soon as I can. My husband has been doing a LOT of snooping about her. Something called and HCS. I'm just thrilled to have it. I'm the coolest car-pool mom ever! I'm sure we'll be asking many, many many questions as we start to give her a little nip and tuck. Not sure if I should start on the body/frame or small cosmetic interior things. Besides the brakes. Oh the brakes..... Thanks in advance for all your help and any ideas for her. Taking suggestions for names for her too!
First off, welcome to the site. Secondly, the very first thing you get in shape are the brakes. If you have drum brakes or disks, ask all the questions you desire, but get them working well. Names, huh? What color is it? I call mine "Ole Yeller." And, Classic Mustangs are generally considered of the feminine gender, so lean toward that direction.
They are drum brakes. My neighbor said he's show me how to put them on. Have some on order! My car looks JUST like yours Soaring, but that's not her original color. We haven't decided if we are going to put the original back yet. It's not that pretty. Aspen Gold. Anyway, thanks for the welcome!
Mine is "Springtime" yellow. That is the original color from the factory, and I didn't want to change anything on the old girl when I had her repainted. I would prefer maybe emberglow or some other color though.

Here's a page that touches on many (if not all) of the "special package" Mustangs:

While none of these have the value of, say a Shelby Mustang (for example) - they are unique and at times sought after by collectors. Personally, I would be drawn to yours because of that color!
As for your other (introductory) post asking about mechanical help - look up your local vintage Mustang club. You may need to do a Google search; but it will be a collection of folks like yourself that love these little cars. Most will be happy to get together with you and give the car a good going over and help you list everything that needs to be addressed.
Thanks for the info Dan66. I've been looking for a local club infact!
We haven't been able to truely CONFIRM the HCS. However, the only thing she is lacking is the badge on the side. Her stamp plate on the door has no color # and a long DSO #. Possibly sequential. We are going to give Ford a call this next week and see what they can tell us.
Personall,y I'm just thrilled to death to see her in MY driveway!
And be able to drive her.
