Default Electric Fan Question

Has anyone removed the stock fan and installed one of these in their 67/68?
I am looking to improve the cooling in my S code.

Just need to know will it fit ok. Wiring and bracket fabrication are not an issue for me.

Do you have more than 4.18" distance from the radiator to the water pump? If so, then fitment shouldn't be an issue.I would think thisdimension is the biggest concern. The other dimensions then shouldn't be a problem. Sorry, can't answer about its effectiveness though. Have to wait for other S code '67 owners to chime in.

I just installed a Flex-A-Lite electric fan in my 67 Coupe. I've got a 289 in mine, though. It's one of the best upgrades I've done. Had a few problems, but with help from the people on this forum, I got it all worked out.

See this thread for the issues I went through:

Now I just need to install my new Northern aluminum radiator and a new water pump and I will be in business!

Oh, the fan I installed was a Flex-A-Lite 175 fan. No issues now and works great. I highly recommend this upgrade to anyone.

I am thinking about an electric fan on my 66 also. Any recommendations? Currently I have a stock-size 3 row radiator but that probably needs to change also. I put an overflow res on it (I know, looks like crap) but did help my cooling. What pulleys would you use if you take the stock fan off?

Have you taken a look at kool craft? They make some good stuff that looks good around that price. I got one for my 65... 3000cfm spal fan.... Good Luck.

Thanks for the comments & link.

Finally got to do some measurements. The 180 will not fit. So I will go with the 210 which is a dual fan setup.
My car came with a pusher fan on the front of the rad,so between the three of them they should keep the 390 FE cool.

Will set the pusher fan to come turn on first and then the pullers to switch on when needed, as they draw about 1.5
time the current the pusher unit does.

Great, a network blip and I had to hit the back button, but it looks like it left a blank message. I was trying to quote schottsports, and say I contacted Kook Craft. thanks!

I got a 3300 CFM fan (with curved blades - they make less noise) off Ebay. Then put in an SPAL controller. THe fan "just" fit inside the flats of the stock plastic baffle as the photo shows. This also put it about 1/2 inch off the face of the fins. The SPAL controller is easy to program for the ON and MAX points. I have mine just come on around 180 (where the thermostat opens) and MAX speed with the temp gauge about mid scale. I replaced the stock radiator with a dual core (1 inch tubes) all aluminum radiator in the stock size and I probably didn't need all the electric stuff, but 90% of the time, the fan is OFF, even during the summer. It only comes on at long stop lights or in heavy traffic. Considering it's OFF most of the time, I figure it's got to be saving something, gas, electric, whatever... Just be careful if you get an SPAL controller- they want to see full 12 volts on the "Signal" line coming from the ignition system - and the Ford only puts out 8 to 9 volts. You have to add a small relay to boost the voltage up to the battery voltage. Tis signal line tells the controller to turn on or off when the ignition is switched off.
