well i was planning on rebuilding it with really high compression but idk the pistons i already have hung on the rods are .425 inch dome i believe it was and with the US open chamber head its 10.2:1 compression ratio and with the closed chamber i believe it was 13.6:1

i wanna stuff it in a fox body notch[8D]

i am no expert in that area but i thought anything much over 11:1 and you would be looking at Avgas or racing fuel.

well depends on the cam and also the heads you can get away with higher compression ratios with alum heads. but they are putting in e85 stations here in the us which is what 115 octane so ill be able to fill up at the pump before to long[8D]

i know your octane ratings are different...we use RON, but 115????
I wouldnt put huge stock in e85 either. Stuff eats rubber fuel components and carb internals.
maybe you should post the e85 as a seperate topic?

Those big ol Cleve ports and valves gave that sucker room to move around, but I'm still suprised it made the turn at the valve pocket as long as it was. Make sure you inspect the cylinder wall for gouges, run the piston all the way down, might even wanna pull the pan and check from the bottom to see the wall below the piston, any really nasty gouge may just tear up the rings.

Stupid Fords.

if any of you guys read the HOT ROD mag thy had a issue not too long ago abut just that. there is some company that makes carbs and fuel line, fuel pumps. heres the article, its farily interesting http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/h...uel/index.html
the company is Quick Fuel

edit: ive been thinking about converting the stang to e85 but they really only sell it in the mid west right now [:@]

I have always worried about doing just that. Looks like the valve wacked it a time or two on the way down. Luck was on your side though with only a little damage. It could be much worse. One tough engine.

the metal wire is whats left of the spring washer that was under the wingnut holding the carb down. there was another piece of it still jammed in the valve.

I got the inletvalve out last night. It is bent!

There are no gouges in the bore that we can see. The thing i am worried about is if the piston itself has maybe got some hairline cracks in it, but if it has i will find out soon enough. Fortunately it wasnt in there long enough to do more damage. I certainly didnt drive it once the thing had fallen right in.
