My guess is the pistonis OK. Are you going to change it? You will know shortly after you fire it up.

the engine is still in the car. I am trying desperately to avoid pulling the whole thing down as I really dont have cash to spare on this car at the moment.

Its a great old cruiser with 3.00's in it. Rolls along beautifully anyhwere between 60 and 85. After that it still pulls but is very thirsty. I (almost) never thrash it and used it for a daily driver for 2 years up until a couple of years ago when i got a company car. All the suspension, brakesand steering has been done but the body and paint needs a fair bit of work.

I may end up having to sell it to fund the other 3
