PS Control Valve
Alright, I've done some looking around on the net... for rebuild kits, for replacements (both new and rebuilt), and even trying to find something about removal of my power steering control valve. I have a rebuilt pump, all new lines, a new ps cylinder, and I don't think I can put it all on my car because I know that control valve is a leaky POS. In my research it appears as though it is best to let someone rebuild them that knows what they are doing, even thought the kits are $20 or less (I did try to rebuild my PS cylinder and finally just bought a new one - I don't want it to leak!). I've sent about 5 emails to different places that say they rebuild them, but haven't gotten an email back yet from any of them. I'm sure someone on this board has A) removed it, B) rebuilt one, C) replaced it, or D) just let the damn thing leak <grin>. Does anyone know the answers to these questions? I think I'd like to have mine simply rebuilt, best case but at this point I don't care. Can you remove just the controle valve or do you need to completely remove the entire arm? I have realized that there is something I like to work on less than suspension... power steering!
If you want to try and rebuild it yourself, I sell the most complete kit on the market http://www.stangerssite.com/CVparts.html
If you want to have a pro rebuild it, I do that also http://www.stangerssite.com/CVrebuilding.html
If you need any help or advice, I am here for that too.
On the 1966 V8 control valve, you have to remove and rebuild the centerlink also because it is integral to the unit.
