Who had it first?
The widely accepted answer (not UNIVERSALLY accepted, obviously...) is the GTO. Most of the car shows on TV will state that.
My opinion is based on what the car was built for. I think the early Plymouth that was referred to earlier was actually built for racing applications, as were some of the other early (pre-63/64) big block cars. They were stripped down, no option models. Not to say they could not be ordered by individuals that way, but in my mind, the first real "muscle car" designed for mass production for thegeneral publicwas the GTO.

The Sport Fury was not a race-only vehicle. Yes, it was a stripped down model, but it was readily available for public order. And ordering performance vehicles (and vehicles in general)was much more common back then, rather than buying straight off the lot.
