Default New Leaf Spring. Got luckie!!

Well I amfinishing up with the new leaf spring installation. I really lucked out when I remove the old springs. It only took me a couple hours to get the old ones out. No problem with the eye bolts it just pulled right out. There are pics of what the bolts and shackles look like after years of a car beingfrom California.

I just took mine off last night, too. All was good, except for one bolt that needed the influence of a grinder. What kind of springs are you putting back in?

You got really lucky, I had one customers car that I had to torch out the whole leaf spring eye to get it out - luckily the stock spings were coming out too

It was a 70 mach 1 that was purchased off ebay out of state.

I am just putting a standard stock leaf back. It maybe a little stiff than stock. The old ones where of bad that I couldn't take people in the back seat. You can see by the pic how much it was saging on the driver side , this was even after I installed new shocks.

You know.. Mine still sits a little lower on the drivers side even after new springs.. I think I may have some frame issues.. or shackle mount problem. I was lucky too, my bolts slid right out,, the bushings on the shackles were the hard thing to coax out..

Aww, you missed all the fun! Stuggling with that one bolt all day is the joy in working on the rear springs.....pff, yea right

Good to see it worked well for you. I had to put a 7.5" cutting wheel on my 5" grinder...scary!

I had to cut the nut, and the end of the bolt off. And still could not get it out. I didn't have a torch so drilled out the head of the bolt to get my stubborn leaf spring out.

here is a picture of the head of the bolt. It is not a nut. I kept it in the garage as a conversational piece. I was a little off center. But not bad for where this bolt was.

Doesn't sound like you had it easy at all . I can't wait to see what my car will sit like. I measured the height from the ground to lip of the fender center of the wheel well. It was 23 1/8 on driver side and 23 3/4 on the other . It will be interesting to measure when its done .Not sure on working on it today the temp here is 30 F and tomorrow 15 F.
