gt40 buildup
i found a set of gt40 heads from a 95 explorer in a junk yard for 60 bucks.
i just have to remove them myself.
they probably need rebuilding, cleaning, and machining (.30 removed from what i undertand)
roughly what am i looking at replacing
valves
springs
locks, retainers etc
rocker arms.
i am putting a comp cams xe256h cam and lifter kit in as well so will standard 95 explorer springs be sufficient (i know this cam works with oem 289 springs) or should i look at something stronger

i know people here are using these heads. the original set i was looking at was too warped to use but there are more available.
did you just bolt them on and go or did you change springs and rocker arms?

what is the outside diameter on those.
i called comp cams about springs for the heads and they couldnt give me a direct answer on what would work without that number.
oh and did you use the standard gt40 rail rockers or did you need something different

here's what's in my P's
Comp Cams 1431-16 rail type roller tip rockers
Comp Cams 942-16 valve springs ( correction 339lbs )
Comp Cams 768-16 7 degree retainers
Comp Cams valve locks
Comp Cams 4504-16 studs
those are what i got in my heads and they work perfectly and are all relatively cheap. those are what comp cams reccomended to me, i double checked with a few sources and those are what i went with, no problems
