Do you have a link to an article detailing how to convert an automatic to a manual?

Yep, but get out your pocketbook, it's gonna cost some major bucks. Flywheel, bell housing, clutch, tranny, etc.

I, for one, would rather go with the 5 speed. Until I need to do something like eat while driving or trying to talk on the phone. Yes, I do both of those things, and do it better than most drivers do with both hands on the wheel.

I was just looking in to it because of the more gears, more fun aspect. I'll probably get a junkyard tranny and run it to the ground, then buy a new one eventually to go to it's place. I think it's probably going to cost more for the adapters and custom clutch stuff than it will for the tranny itself.

Yeah, I have read a few articles where technicians say it is cost prohibitive, but can be done. I wouldn't look into the Tremec 5 speeds though. They are a weak transmission at best. I know, Ford had to completely rebuild mine in my 03 Mach1. Now, the 6 speed that is in the Cobras might not be a bad choice if you have the mulah.

I was seriously thinking of getting a world class T-5, as I'm not really going to be putting tons and tons of power through it. I was thinking of doing a ***** to the walls setup, but I'd like this car to last so I kind of scrapped that idea. As long as it's a top 1% car I'll be happy (faster than 99% of other cars) and the world class should be able to handle that no problem. If not, I'll just keep buying gearboxes and putting them in, only takes an afternoon to remove and reinstall one anyway. For me, most of the fun in the car is working on it. And then breaking it, of course

There were several World Class t-5's prior to 1993, but Ford eventually came up with the best yet. Still, mine was weak with the torque I threw at it. Here's is some interesting information I found.
"In about 1993 Ford started offering a new service unit to the motorsport crowd. The "Z" spec T-5, also sometimes referred to as "World Class T-5". Most folks, associate the term "World Class" as meaning the best. The T-5z is a 93 Cobra T-5 with 2.95 first gear set and .63 over drive. It has the best of everything. Hardened gears, short throw shifter, steel front bearing retainer, and tapered output shaft bearing. Best of all it has a torque rating of 330ft/lbs. This T-5 can handle up to 450 hp if not drag raced. "
