Default Fmx transmision

I have a 69' Falcon that had a 302w and c-4 and I am tryin' to put a 351w and fmx transmission in it. I am trying to use the flex plate and the engine plate off of the 302. But the starter bolt holes and the engine plate holesdo not line up. Do I even need and engine plate? Can the flex plate be modified? DoI just have to get a specific engine plate.
