yeah you can turn it over with the bolt on the crank, below the waterpump. I believe mine was a 13/16 inch socket. Aussie, why do you have to pull the plugs to do this?
you dont have to pull the plugs.

there's siezed and theres siezed...you can overheat an engine and have a piston grab. Once its cooled down the engine will turn over but you've got an issue in that piston. then there's the other version where water has got in there and the motor wont actually turn over at all. I've seen the first version but not the second even on engines that have been in a field for 25 years.

The reason you could pull the plugs is to take compression out of the equation. Even better is to pull rockers off as well. You can at least get a feel for any grabbing in the engine. Thats how i found out something was not exactly right with my 408 (before we discovered the t-shirt)

its a moot point really. for $1000 or $1500, if the engine is still good its a bonus. I would be tearing it down for a good bath and rebuilding it anyway[8D]

The 64-68 inline 6 car has a 7.5 rear the front the spindles are the same you can just change the hubs and drums also need the v8 springs for the front.Cheapest place to get a 8 inch i trust is http://www.perogie.com/Rears.htm the front you can do a granada swap kit or after market brakes that fit the drum spindle If you need some links for that let me know. But look at it this way your gonna spend about 3 grand on it and you can sell it for 5 ot 6 easy or keep it.

well i just talked to the family, they said they'd take $1000 for it but someone also offered to trade them a quad so they're going to check that out and think about it. they said they'd let me know by the weekend. oh and i did a little more digging today on the motor. they said it was a 289 but i didnt think it looked like one...going off memory it looks like it may actually be a 351c. ill keep everyone posted on what happens next.

if its a 351c then the radiator hose will go straight into the block. Its probably a 289 because if they got it out of another 67 thats what it would have had.

and to get him to sell it to you be like "i'm a passionate mustang guy and will really treat the car right" or something haha

well im kinda playing the "ever since i was a kid ive always wanted a mustang" card...although i failed to mention that i already have one haha. well if i remember correctly it did come right out of the block, it looked a lot different than my 302 too so im crossing my fingers hoping that its a cleveland. i heard its pretty easy to make a lot of power with them. i talked to the wife today and she's afraid it'll be too big of a project for me, i told her it'll be great for me. we'll see what happens i guess.
