Fuse Question
Yesterday I decided to change out the old fuses in the box with new ones. After pulling out the one for instrument panel/lighting and replacing it my instrument panel no longer lights up. Tried putting the old fuse back in-- still no luck. To me it looks like the box calls for 2.5 amps so I installed a 3 amp fuse. Is it 25 Amps instead? From what I could see the fuse I pulled was a 30.
Thanks-- Confused.

Its a low amperage fuse. Pull the new fuse out and look for corrosion on the fuse holder, (i'm sure you'll find some) You may need to get creative with a way to clean them. Look forapprox. 3 to 5 v (I believe) when the lights are on and full upon one side of the fuse holder, that will check the light switch. check your light bulbs too.
It may be in the headlight switch. The fuse is a 2.5 not 25 or 30. Its the shortest onein the block. You can check to see if your headlight switch rheostat is working by using a test light and touching it to both terminals where the fuse resides. It should dim with the switch. If not, then its bad.
no 25 apmere in there please ... !
+1 on all the above said.
when you look at the glas fuse you can easily see if they're blown or not. if you have a multimeter, get the fuse out and measure resistance from one side to another of the fuse and you should have zero resitance (0 ohm)
if thats the case fuse is good. is there nothing else you did? only changed the fuse ? maybe you fried a different fuse by pulling another out (with screwdriver etc)
