Default Cam & Heads for 302--tach install q's

i am looking to put a tach on my 1969 302 mustang convertible.

i like the JME gauges, but likely just need a tach to mount on my steering column.

Is a stand alone tach a lot of trouble to install? i understand it is simple but thought you guys could tell me.

Cam-i would like to install a cam that will give me some more hp, but keep a decent idle and allow me to use a/c. any suggestions?

what about Heads-is there a preferred set for the 302? i also guess that the cam and head should match my set up? i have 600 cmf eld, alum intake, ceramic headers.

thanks to all who reply!!

tach

red= iggy hot
black==ground
yellow= headlight or dalight hot
green= coil +side should say tach on the coil

god street cam has no more than 285* of adv. duration , a LDA or center lines no tighter than 112* . NO reason to lift a stock valve over 0.485" .

You can put 351C heads on a 302. Same bolt pattern. That would be cheaper than a set of Edelbrocks or others.

Yep , drill out the watter passage on the head and they bolt right on . But you will never find the intake manfold for it

Oh, I know.....But, if a fella could find a whole engine with a blown block for a few dollars, that would be the way to go IMO. But of course, I'm cheap.

I see the intake manifolds on ebay from time to time...actually, I think you would plug some holes in the heads and drill some in the block, but what do I know, I only put them on a 351W and stroked it.

Here's some heads on ebay with beefed up motorsport springs, etc. This would be a very good deal as far as price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33617

The 351C heads won't work with the stock pistons either. The valve reliefs are wrong. Get a set of heads for a smallblock that have at least 1.94 intake valves. The biggest improvement I had with my engine was increasing the valve size and porting.

I have only seen the green tach trigger wire connected to the minus (-) side of the coil. I've also only seen "TACH" on the factory Duraspark coil connector.
