transmission rebuild

Default transmission rebuild

i have a 68 mustang with a c4 tranny i have had it for about year it runs good wondering if i should get the tranny rebuilt dont know if the last owner did it or not, how would you know ifit needed to get rebuilt and if so can you recommend a good rebuild kit

If it works, don't fix it!
If its not leaking fluid, shifts good and has all its gears, I'd leave it alone.

Don't worry about the transmission... it'll let you know when it's time to be rebuilt. Keep checking the fluid and changing the filter at regular intervals and you'll be surprised how long a C4 can last.

If you are going to drive it hard, you'll definantely see how good of shape it's in. Other than that, a band adjustment may be in order the next time you do a fluid change. google for C4 band adjustment and you'll get the procedure (not very hard at all)
