Default out with old - in with new...Maybe?

I got the new shocks this week. pulled the old ones out. i need some advice on this one.

went to stick the new ones in. Something doesnt look quite right. So i did some measuring. the new ones are about an inch longer from the mounting surfaces. fully extended or fully compressed so the overall travel is the same.

There's 15" from the shock plate to the top mount. the old shocks were 12" fully compressed, 18.5" fully extended. The new ones are 13" fully compressed. That means around 2" of downward shock travel. Is it going to be enough?

how hard/easy is it to change shocks? Would someone with zero suspension experience be able to do it?

yep...its a piece of cake for the rears. a little more fiddly to get at the lower bolts on the fronts.

bump

anyone got a formula for shock length?

There's 15" from the shock plate to the top mount. the old shocks were 12" fully compressed, 18.5" fully extended. The new ones are 13" fully compressed (ie to the point of binding). That means around 1-2" of downward shock travel by time the rubbers come into the equation. Is it going to be enough?
