Default New Rad installed?

So I got anew water pump and new 4 core Rad installed. Question the clutch and fan assemblyseem real close to Rad (1 1/2 inches about)compared to the old smaller Rad and the fan is pretty much covered by the Shroud. Is there a problem that I might run into with the way its setting up . I haven't added fluid yet wanted to make sure things are right.

you can buy a smaller spacer, but the distance should be fine as long as the fan isnt a flex fan.

You want the fan as close as possible without touching when the motor moves and torques around. I would think 1.5-2" is about right. As for the shroud, you also want the fan inside there or just outside it. Keep in mind, the idea of the fan is to pull air thru the radiator and not from around the radiator.

Without a shroud, you want the fan 1/2" to 1" away from the radiator to keep it from sucking air in from behind the radiator.

With a shroud, however, you want the fan sticking out 1/2" to 1". You want the fan sucking right at the choke point, which is the mouth of the shroud. Putting it up close to the radiator actually makes flow a little worse.

Yeah, with a shroud about half the fan in the shroud and half the fan out of it.

hummm....I did not know that. Why do you want the fan a little further away with a shroud?

Wondering this also.... Why 1/2 out with a shroud?

Because you're sucking with the front half of the fan, not the back half. If you have the fan buried in the shroud, you're actually trying to blow hot air out the sides of the fan while it's still in the shroud, disrupting flow. Kind of a simple explanation, but without a fluidtunnel it's kinda hard to explain.
