Default new stereo install

well i tried searching but i guess im retarded and couldnt find anything even though i know its been discussed here a million times before. but anyways my question is about the power supply on my head unit, where do i hook up the power wires. there is one for memory like keeping time and stuff when your car is turned off (constant supply of power) and there is one that turns the unit on when the ignition is turned "on"

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

heh, all i did was take a wire and run it directly to my fuse panel in the ciggy lighter, and the other into the accessory - works fine, no blown fuses.

remote is acc, it comes on when the car turns on, it just lets it know 'hey the car is on' and the other just go to the ciggy. ciggy always has power so it powers the memory.

remote wire goes doesnt go to power

its to power an electric antenna turn on an amp for your sub etc if you have neither of these just put and end on it to keep it from zapping anything. like stated above though the memory wire needs constant power. the other wire goes to an acc like stated above also on you can probably find a hot wire behind the dash that isnt being used or run it to the ignition switch etc or the fuse box etc

well it was free for me...its just a basic JVC cd/radio thing. i could get a new one for around $50 but if im going to actually buy one id probably fork out the extra cash and get one with an ipod hookup.

well i just went out and said f it and bought a new pioneer head unit with an ipod hook up on it. so for 2 6x9" and 2 5 1/4" pioneer speakers and the head unit it was about $240. speakers were half off when i bought them yesterday so i got lucky there. all i have to do now is hook all the wires up. it has an "ILL" wire that it says to hook up to the light switch (im assuming its so the lights on the unit turn on when i turn the head lights on) but can i just hook it up to the ACC so the lights are always on when my car is on?
