Are you looking for regular paint or metal flake? As a side note I picked out the colors for my Mustang in the Xbox 360 game Forza 2. My friend was playing it one day andI noticed thatit had a ton of cars and let you customize them completely, so I loaded up a 1970 Mustang (very close to a 1969) and went to town on it. Ireally think it helps to get an actual image of what you want, if you just leave it in your head it shifts over time.
I don't mean any offense, but any shade of resale red will do.
It's just a personal taste of mine, but people who repaint older cars to make them red just annoy me- so many red cars out there it gets so boring looking at them all. Keep them their original color and preserve that little slice of history, besides- the out of the ordinary colors grab attention just as much if not more than a bright red.

Red also makes it more visible to everyone else so if you don't want someone pulling out in front of you
(like color matters these days with all the idiots holding cell phones)...according to insurance statistics, red is the safest color.
