Looks like a slug from spot weld remover tool. if some one was drilling when the motor was apart, it may have fell in the pan and not noticed when reassambeled

I can't tell the size of it from the picture, but it kinda looks like the flat part of a intake or exhaust valve.

It does look a little like the bottom of a valve, but that could never end up in your pan unless someone put it there. Could it be part of the oil pump that broke off?

My thoughts exactly.

To the OP.... when taking pictures like this it's always best to include in the picture something to provide a visual reference. A quarter, a dollar bill, a razor blade, etc., etc.

Although it looks to be the base of a broken valve, I'm guessing it's too small, but without a visual reference I can't be sure. Maybe a spring seat?

Are the valve covers off of the engine? Are you missing any spring seats (the flat piece of metal between the top of the spring and the rocker arm)?

Either way, I'd pull the motor apart and rebuild it.

Well its the about the size of a dime. I am pulling the motor this weekend.

I think it has something to do with my bent push rods because it was on the windage tray towards the back and the worse bent rods are on the #7 and #8 cylinders.

But none the less its coming out this weekend. If the block is salvageable, then I might just stroke it out to a 410 or more. That should make about 500hp and make this one quick car!

The up side is I wont have the engine in the way for replacing the front suspension bushings, sway bar and brakes. I might even detail it out and paint it.

Thanks for all of the help and replies, I'll keep you updated.

Dime sized is too small for a valve. Let us know if/when you figure out what it is.[sm=signs003.gif]
