dump in a small bottle of white rubbing alcohol and that may dry up the water.. Then check your timing.. Thats all I can think.. It sounds like an ignition problem to me..

it ran fine about two weeks ago matter of fact fast enough to out run a turbo charged solstice(pontiac) aprox 130-140 mph so 70 mph is about half what it will do ,it does not have a rev limiter,. so it has to be either fuel or fire . cutting out = missing , modulating, not a steady run. like i said it will run like a bat out of hell to about 70 mph and then starts cutting out not so much missing because that indicates a ignition problem right off the bat. i think i have a water in the fuel tank and maybe at high speed it is not getting the fuel to the carb.
Well if it runs that well to 70 I would have to suggest a fuel problem, maybe filter or if the carb you have is vacuum secondary type maybe they aren't opening all the way. A bottle of heat is a good idea if you suspect water in the fuel.

You can't cruise above 70, or with your foot in it and in second gear, you can't get above 70 ? I'd look at valve springs if your in 2nd when it happens. You could take the RPM it takes to go 70 in 2nd, and try to hit that same RPM in first. You may get a little more out of it than in 2nd, but that could point you in a direction.

Springs or time for aduel point. Their could be a fuel issue. Not to say the line could be stopped up.
